The study of Chinese language and culture can provide a fascinating journey and lead to an exciting career in our fast-changing modern world. At the University you’ll study Mandarin. This is the main language of mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, and other Chinese-speaking communities around the world.
Learn the ideographic writing system, along with spoken Chinese. Gain insights into Chinese society and culture. Enjoy access to excellent language learning resources, as well as leading experts and researchers. The University also hosts the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre and a Confucius Institute.
The People’s Republic of China is an economic superpower. Many New Zealand companies want to do business there, and China wants to take its business to the world. You may find work in business, trade, tourism, academia, law, education, or diplomacy.
