Research topics
There is an active and dynamic culture of research in Art History at Victoria University of Wellington. You might choose to explore contemporary New Zealand art, the politics of art and climate change, the narratives of Oceania in art, or look at how artists write about art.
You will work closely with curators and experts from the Adam Art Gallery, and draw on collections held in galleries and museums around New Zealand. You'll also be able to take advantage of Wellington's unique research resources—The National Library and Archives New Zealand.

You might work as an art writer, gallery curator, communications and public programmes manager, researcher, or arts administrator. Art history postgraduate students are in demand for their interdisciplinary knowledge and writing skills, and many have gone on to work in many different fields including education, journalism, communications, and public policy.
