To be accepted into this programme you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or relevant graduate or postgraduate diploma with a grade average of at least B+

  • To have met the prerequisites for the subject you wish to study (see subject section below)

  • To be accepted by the head of the school as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study

Programme requirements

For this programme you’ll need to:

  • Complete 240 points, including:

    • 120 points from 400- and 500-level courses

    • A Master's thesis course worth 120 points

  • Satisfy the subject requirements

Important information

  • The Master of Science by coursework and thesis is in two parts—Part 1 is made up of courses totalling 120 points and Part 2 is a 591 thesis course worth 120 points, or a research course worth fewer points plus other courses with a combined total of 120 points.
  • You will need permission from the relevant head of school to start Part 2.
