This programme can be studied as a general science qualification or you can choose to specialise in a specific subject. Find out what qualifications you need to get into the GDipSc and what courses you need to take to complete it.

Programme requirements

For this degree you'll need to:

  • Complete 200- and 300-level courses worth at least 120 points from the BSc schedule, of which:

    • at least 75 points must be at 300 level.

  • You may obtain a GDipSc with a specialisation if your course of study meets the 300-level requirements of the corresponding major subject (see below).

Psychology

Study the science behind our brains and our behaviour. Gain insights into why people think, act, and feel the way they do. Examine social behaviour, emotion, personality, and motivation.

You’ll learn about perception—how our brains can tell red from blue or hot from cold—and discover the way we store and retrieve memories. Learn how psychological research is carried out and how to use statistics to analyse findings in lab experiments.

Preparation for postgraduate study

If you want to study Psychology at postgraduate level after completing your Graduate Diploma in Science, you will also need to complete PSYC 232 Survey and Naturalistic Research Methods, and either PSYC 242 Experimental Research Methods or PSYC 325 Advanced Research Methods in Psychology.
