For this degree you’ll need to:
Complete six core courses:
Satisfy the requirements for at least one major subject (see below)
Satisfy the requirements for an approved complementary minor or major (see below under each major subject)
Important information
- A minor is made up of at least 60 points from the relevant subject area at 200 level or above, of which at least 15 points must be at 300 level and not counted towards a major or other minor. Some subjects have specific minor requirements in addition to this.
- Make sure you check what the prerequisites are for all 200- and 300-level courses you are planning to do in your degree. Ensure your choices will cover those requirements.
- If your minor is in Intercultural Communication, Literary and Creative Communication, or Political Communication with a degree other than the Bachelor of Communication, you are required to take COMS 201 as part of your 60 points.

Important information
- Non-BC students doing the Science Communication major must also complete Introduction to Communication Studies (COMS 101) and Approaches to Communication Research (COMS 201).
Complementary minors and majors
- Approved complementary minors and majors include any of the subjects listed in the BSc, BBmedSc, or BPsyc regulations, except the Science in Society minor.
- The Science Communication minor must include COMS 201, SCIS 213, SCIS 311, and SCIS 314 or 316.
- A minor is made up of at least 60 points from the relevant subject area at 200 level or above, of which at least 15 points must be at 300 level and not counted towards a major or other minor.
- If you choose to do a complementary major rather than a complementary minor you will finish your degree with a double major. This may take longer to complete than the standard 6 trimesters for a single major degree.
