The MoU is anticipated to bolster the internationalisation efforts of both universities—fostering collaborative research, educational endeavours, and cultural exchange.

Victoria University of Wellington’s Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Dave Harper says, “The MoU represents an exciting opportunity for joint teaching, research, commercialisation opportunities, and collaboration across the two universities particularly related to AI and computer graphics. The agreement further illustrates the strong international awareness and demand to work with us in multiple areas of computer science.”

The MoU was preceded by a visit from UEC’s Dr Kazuaki Oya (Member of the Board of Directors) and UEC faculty members to Victoria University of Wellington in December 2023. During this visit, representatives from both institutions presented their research, explored potential areas for collaboration, and committed to advancing research and educational exchanges.
