The Wellington International Leadership Programme (WILP) is an academically-oriented extracurricular programme of seminars, speaker events and experiential activities relevant to the themes of:
- global leadership
- cross-cultural communication
- global connectedness
- sustainability.
WILP is designed to address the aim of producing graduates who are active and engaged global citizens and whose attributes include cross-cultural competence and a capacity to respect diverse perspectives and a sound understanding of the world beyond New Zealand.
It enables students to better understand and debate pressing global issues such as climate change, economic interdependence, global inequality, poverty and human security.
The programme also enhances leadership skills, as well as encouraging interaction between international and domestic students, and across the various university faculties.

WILP links Victoria University of Wellington with a wide range of partners at a local, national and global level including:
- New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA)
- Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA)
- Asia New Zealand Foundation
