Our university partners with agencies that provide education opportunities to students who might not otherwise have the chance to gain a world-class education.

We maintain enduring partnerships with many sponsoring agencies around the world and now host sponsored students from over 50 countries.

Sponsored students who have access to Victoria University of Wellington’s top-ranking education will help build capacity back home and make a positive contribution to their local industries and communities.

In turn, international sponsored students bring greater diversity to our university and provide new ideas and a different global perspective.

Support for students

The team at Wellington University International can provide extra support to students who come to us through sponsoring agencies. This can include close pastoral care, academic preparation, leadership initiatives, and providing authentic New Zealand experiences.

New Zealand Scholarships

We are a partner in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Zealand Scholarships programme that offers education opportunities to students from developing countries.

More than 220 New Zealand Scholarships students study at Victoria University of Wellington every year.
