Staff Giving

The Staff Giving programme allows staff to easily support philanthropic causes at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

Philanthropic donations play an increasingly important role at the University. Since 1991, the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation has supported thousands of student scholarships, academic positions, cutting-edge research, and more through charitable giving.

Donations are made through the Foundation and come from alumni, friends and community leaders, trusts and other institutions, and our own university staff, who are able to donate through the Staff Giving Programme.

Every donation, large or small, provides meaningful support for our community.

About Staff Giving

Our Staff Giving Programme enables University staff to easily support meaningful philanthropic causes that directly impact our community on campus.

You can support a wide range of University projects and needs by making a regular fortnightly donation or a one-off gift through payroll giving.

An amount of your choosing is deducted pre-tax to be distributed to an area of your choice. You receive a tax credit of 33.33 cents for every dollar donated; your tax credit is automatically applied, reducing the amount of PAYE or withholding tax paid when your gift is made.

We are grateful to our staff members who already support the University through payroll giving. If you would like to join them or learn more about the funds you can support, visit the intranet and complete our staff payroll giving form.

If you prefer, you may donate in the same way as non-staff—by making a gift online or by bank transfer and claiming your tax credit through Inland Revenue at the end of the tax year.

If you have any questions, please contact our Development Manager Rebecca Burke at rebecca.burke@vuw.ac.nz.
