Trimester 1
EPSY 486 Special Topic: Infant and Toddler Pedagogy
A critical study of issues related to infant and toddler pedagogy in historical and contemporary contexts. National and international models of infant and toddler professional practice will be explored using a Kaupapa Maori and multi-disciplinary approach that bridges child development and policy studies.
Trimester 2
EPOL 485 Special Topic: Advocacy, children's and young people's rights in contemporary society
A critical study of advocacy and issues related to children's and young people's rights in contemporary society. International conventions, national and international reports and policies will be used to develop research-based advocacy responses to national and local issues across a range of disciplines.
EPOL 486/EDUC 564 Special Topic: Sport and Physical Activity: Supporting Youth Development
This course critically examines beliefs about the use of sport and physical activity contexts for youth development and the implications for policy and practice. Students will examine contemporary models and evidence-based practice in relation to the evaluation of programmes designed to promote positive youth development. This is a blended course involving two block courses and online learning.
