BIO
Anne Niemetz is a media artist and designer working in the fields of wearable technology, interactive installation and audio-visual design. She is particularly fascinated by the convergence of art, science, design and technology, and she pursues collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects.
Her work has been exhibited at Ars Electronica, Austria; BODY festival, Christchurch; Microwave International New Media Arts Festival, Hong Kong; The ZKM Karlsruhe, Germany; Happy New Ears festival, Belgium; LACMA - Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA; MAC - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Santiago de Chile; SIGGRAPH Cyberfashion Show, USA; Montevideo Institute, Amsterdam, Netherlands, and at various other international festivals and screenings.
Anne studied Media Arts at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG), Germany, with a focus in digital media and interactive sound installation, and in 2002 received her Media Arts degree. She continued her studies at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated in 2004 with a Master of Fine Art granted by the Design|Media Art department. In 2007 Anne moved to New Zealand to take up the role of Senior Lecturer in the Media Design programme at VUW.
