China Study Plan scholarships (Doctoral Study)
Full and partial scholarships offered by Confucius Institute Wellington, supported by Xiamen University and the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation
Application time
Background
In order to foster deep understanding of China and the Chinese culture among young elites from around the world and prosper China studies, the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has launched the “China Study Plan”.
The majority of the financial support is provided in the form of grants for specific research and other projects in designated fields of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The subsidies include: in-China research fund, tuition, lodging and living stipends, library stipends, in-China health and accident insurance, as well as subsidies for attending academic conferences in related areas, round-trip international transportation, and other living and work subsidies provided by the Chinese and/or oversea universities hosting the program.
The subprograms
The Plan consists of these subprograms:
Joint Research PhD Fellowship
Purpose
Support doctoral students (candidates) registered with foreign universities to come to China for study, research and writing of their doctoral dissertations. Students who successfully complete the program may receive PhD degrees either from the foreign universities they registered or from both the Chinese and the foreign universities.
Duration
From six months to two years.
PhD in China Fellowship
Purpose
Support foreign students to pursue full-time PhD degrees in the humanities and social sciences at Chinese universities.
Duration
Normally from three to four years.
