Mandarin Language Assistants
Learn more about Mandarin Language Assistants (MLAs), who help promote the learning of Mandarin in New Zealand schools.
Each academic year, Mandarin Language Assistants (MLAs) are available to support language teaching and learning of Mandarin and raise the quality of Mandarin language provision in New Zealand schools. Placed in schools for the year, the MLA works with NZ teachers to support Chinese programmes aligned with the goals of the schools.
The Confucius Institute at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington provides support for placing MLAs at schools in the lower North Island and monitors progress during the school year.
