Premier Li Keqiang sees MLA [Volunteer] working in New Zealand

At the official lunch for Premier Li Keqiang, hosted by New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English on 28 March in Auckland, the Premier watched a film highlighting many areas of cooperation between China and New Zealand. Mandarin Language Assistant Zhang Jingwen from Xiamen University, who is teaching in Wellington at Te Aro School, a Confucius Classroom in New Zealand’s capital city, was shown on the film teaching children a Chinese song. All the students at Te Aro School study Chinese. The Te Aro School children also performed a fan dance on the film.

Zhang Jingwen, who is an accomplished musician, arrived in Wellington in February. She is one of 147 MLAs working in New Zealand in 2017. She is also teaching the erhu to university students at Victoria University’s first-ever Chinese music course, supported by the Confucius Institute, at Te Koki New Zealand School of Music.

3月28日，新西兰总理比尔·英格利希（Bill English）阁下，在奥克兰为中华人民共和国总理李克强隆重举办了盛大的午宴。李总理在午宴期间观看了一部彰显中新多领域合作的专题影片。影片中呈现了来自新西兰首都惠灵顿缇艾柔（Te Aro）学校孔子课堂的汉语助教张静文教孩子们唱中文歌、表演太极扇的片段。缇艾柔（Te Aro）学校是惠灵顿维多利亚大学孔子学院的下属孔子课堂，该校从2009年开始就开设了汉语课程，今年（2017年）是开设汉语课程第9年，学习汉语的学生人数不断增加。现在缇艾柔（Te Aro）学校的所有学生都在学习汉语课程。

汉语助教张静文是厦门大学汉语国际教育专业在读硕士研究生，擅长二胡演奏。她1月底到达惠灵顿，在接受了维多利亚大学孔子学院举办的适应性培训之后，与维大孔院其他57名汉语助教一起开始了为期一年的汉语教学工作。她同时也在维多利亚大学新西兰音乐学院教授大学生二胡演奏，这是在维大孔院支持下维大首次开设中国音乐课程。

2017年在新西兰三大孔院工作的汉语助教共有147名，有300余所新西兰中小学校开始了汉语课程，正在学习汉语的人数超过4万人。孔子学院成为中新关系发展的新纽带，发挥着越来越重要的作用。
