Celebrated guqin virtuoso and maker Wang Peng visited Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music  on 17 October while on a performance tour of New Zealand. With the support of the Confucius Institute at Victoria University and the China Cultural Centre NZ, Wang Peng and his colleagues from Beijing’s well-known Juntian Fang Guqin Society exchanged ideas for future collaboration with NZSM staff and students.  The CI VUW/NZSM Chinese musical instruments collection includes several guqin. It is hoped that this most beautiful and ancient of musical instruments will feature in the study, composition and performance repertoire of growing numbers of musicians in New Zealand.
