100 NZ Students to Attend CI Summer Camp in China
Hanban, the Confucius Institute Headquarters, will host 100 New Zealand high school students for a two week summer camp in July.
Around 100 New Zealand high school students, including 30 from Wellington and the lower North Island, will attend a two week summer camp in China in July, organised and sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. The camp was announced by the Chairperson of the Institute Headquarters, Mme Liu Yandong, when she visited New Zealand in December.
Students will begin with three days in Beijing engaged in tourism and cultural activities. This will be followed by ten days in either Xiamen or Changchun or Harbin, where they will take intensive language courses and spend time with local high school students. Those from Wellington and the lower North Island will be located in Xiamen. All participants are high-achieving year 10-13 students who are non-native speakers of Mandarin, and who have demonstrated a strong interest in China.
