Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDSAI) hosts Women in Data Science New Zealand 2024
Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington's CDSAI is proud to host the Women in Data Science (WiDS) New Zealand event for the second time. Scheduled to take place on 30 September 2024, this in-person event promises to be significant for anyone interested in the field of data science.
WiDS New Zealand is part of a global initiative aimed at increasing the participation of women in data science and highlighting the outstanding work being done by women in this field. The event provides a unique platform for attendees to learn about the latest research and applications of data science across various fields—from social sector analytics to quantum computing and data privacy considerations.
One of the key highlights of the WiDS New Zealand event is the Women in Data Science New Zealand Scholarship, which is designed to support women pursuing careers in data science. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship, which aligns with the event's mission of fostering a diverse and inclusive community in data science.
Both the scholarship and the WiDS event underscore the Centre's commitment to empowering women in data science, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and connections necessary to excel in their careers. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers, engage with expert speakers, and gain insights into cutting-edge topics, such as Kaupapa Māori epidemiology and how data and analytics can drive better outcomes in the social sector.
The CDSAI invites all genders to attend WiDS New Zealand 2024, reflecting the inclusive nature of the event and its goal to bring together a broad spectrum of voices and perspectives. By hosting this event, the Centre continues its mission to advance the field of data science and ensure that women have a prominent place within it.
