AI Forum’s inaugural report launch
The Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is proud to co-sponsor the launch of the AI Forum’s inaugural report—a significant event that will explore the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on productivity in Aotearoa New Zealand.
In a time when AI is fundamentally transforming industries around the world, this report provides crucial insights into how this technology is being utilised across Aotearoa, offering a comprehensive understanding of the key trends, benefits, and challenges associated with AI implementation in the country.
This ground-breaking study, developed in collaboration with Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and Callaghan Innovation, represents the first evidence-based snapshot of AI usage across Aotearoa. It reveals how AI is becoming a game changer, driving innovation, enhancing business efficiency, and opening up new opportunities across various sectors. From agriculture and healthcare to finance and education, AI is being integrated into the fabric of the country’s economy, and this report highlights how it is reshaping the landscape.
Key findings from the report indicate that AI is not only boosting productivity but also transforming the workforce and creating new roles that require advanced technical skills. As businesses increasingly adopt AI technologies, the demand for expertise in data science, machine learning, and AI ethics is rising, underscoring the need for education and training programmes to prepare the future workforce. The report also addresses the challenges of AI implementation, including ethical considerations, the risk of job displacement, and the need for clear regulatory frameworks to ensure AI is used responsibly and equitably.
The event will take place on 3 September, from 4.30 pm to 6 pm at the Hunter Council Chamber, Victoria University of Wellington, Kelburn Parade, Wellington. It is an opportunity for business leaders, policymakers, academics, and students to engage with thought leaders and explore the implications of AI for Aotearoa’s future. Whether you are an AI enthusiast, a professional in the field, or simply curious about how AI is transforming our world, this event offers valuable insights into the future of AI in Aotearoa.
Attendance is free for members and students, and $30 for non-members.
