International research internships
Becoming an intern at the Centre is a great opportunity to receive high-quality research experience, meet scholars and grow professionally.
"Being an intern with CACR was a great experience - working in an international team with people from all over the world." Carolin Konrad | CACR Intern 2010
Because of space constraints, we are only able to accept very limited numbers of interns at any time. Please email cacr@vuw.ac.nz if you are thinking about applying for an internship with the CACR.
Space constraints are not an issue for those people wanting to work in the area of refugee resettlement, in which case it may be possible to work with our Fellow, Professor Sara Kindon, in the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences. If this is the case please contact Prof Kindon directly to ascertain if she is able to supervise you.
Under normal circumstances, the Centre invites international students in cross-cultural study to undertake a research internship at our Centre. CACR is located within the School of Psychology, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Internships are generally short-term, full-time and unpaid. As an intern, you will receive high-quality research experience under the guidance of a CACR director or research fellow. You are expected to have some knowledge of social/cross-cultural psychology and research methods.

Intern application process
Internships can be anywhere from a month to six months in duration. Please note that generally a six month internship is the maximum amount of time permissible, unless there are extraordinary circumstances that make a longer internship necessary. Applications can take up to a month to process so please take this into account when you are planning the timing of your visit. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email cacr@vuw.ac.nz

Intern experiences
International interns find CACR a warm and welcoming environment, where there are always people around to ask questions from and share social time with. Interns work in a collaborative work space and you will have access to the University intranet, library facilities, and relevant workspaces, and the use of a University computer. CACR also has visiting academics who interns will get to listen to and interact with.
