About

My name is Noa Alony Gilboa and I am from the UK. I am currently completing the final year of my undergrad degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. I applied for the CACR internship because I am interested in cross-cultural psychology, particularly how people from multi-cultural backgrounds are shaped by their different cultures and how different cultural influences shape how people think. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a CACR intern during August-September of 2023. With Rita McNamara as my supervisor, I was able to develop my qualitative data analysis skills and was given the opportunity to participate in lab meetings where I was exposed to a variety of interesting projects and ideas from other students in the lab. I enjoyed being able to attend lectures on different aspects of Māori culture, including lectures on the effort to map a Māori Whanau and Māori cooking. I thought that it was very special to be involved in cross-cultural psychological research in a country where embracing several cultures is at the heart of the it’s national identity.
