About

My name is Nicole Mattson, and I received my BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a double major in anthropology and psychology. After spending the last few years gaining work experience in user-centered design and interdisciplinary project management, I decided to apply for an internship at the CACR because I was looking to more closely align with my passion for research and cross-cultural psychology.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my four-month internship here at the CACR with Dr Rita McNamara as my supervisor. I’ve had the opportunity to refine my qualitative data analysis skills and participate in weekly Mind and Context Lab meetings. In addition, I’ve been able to audit the university’s Culture in Psychology course, attend the incredible guest lectures and seminars that the CACR regularly puts on, and write up a few news releases for the CACR website.

The CACR has served as an important home base for my time here in Aotearoa, providing context as well as a space to explore new cross-cultural perspectives and research interests. I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity to work with such an internationally renowned group of researchers.
