“We are huge advocates of healthy work-life balance. It’s a myth that you need to work 30 hours a day and sacrifice everything. Our lives are changing—some of our founding team have become parents, and we all have hobbies. Plus, we’re going through a pandemic!
“We encourage creativity and courage. That’s hard to do if you’re running with tanks on empty. Sometimes the best thing to do is go for a walk or have a laugh. A big part of the Sharesies culture is flexible working.
“Even before the first lockdown in 2020, we knew working from home was possible, because we trialed an ‘All of Business Work from Home’ day. We made sure our team had everything they needed: computers, chairs, desks. We weren’t sure how long isolation would extend and we didn’t want people’s working conditions deteriorating due to an improper work-from-home setup.
“We’re quite a connected bunch. Over the years, we’ve tried a few things such as:
- Setting up channels so we can share music and sounds, like we’re together in the office.
- Sending gift packages to people’s homes and digitally celebrating special occasions together.
- Pivoting our team strategy week getaways to virtual parties. We had online dance classes with Shut Up and Dance. It was lots of fun!
People can now work in a way that suits them. We’re finding work flexibility gives our team members a new lease on life."
