Reading about the global success of companies and thinking about how you might help grow your business internationally can seem daunting. How did these companies get into global markets? How did they maintain and grow their market position? Where did they start?

There are two ways businesses can enter the global market with their products. They can take the traditional route and do a systematic cross-national comparison – choose a country to launch their product in considering competition, risk, market attractiveness, the regulatory landscape, and market similarity. Or they can fast-track their business by starting off thinking globally, looking for similarities in international markets, and finding a global niche or need with a particular market segment in mind.
