Mothers’ perceptions of a home-based support programme
This study looked at parents’ perceptions of a 12 week ESDM parent training programme.
After the training programme was complete, five mothers of young autistic children completed a questionnaire and answered a series of interview questions about their experience.
Main findings
- All five mothers found the intervention to be acceptable.
- Each of the parents also identified strengths and challenges related to:
- outcomes for their child
- the model of intervention
- the parent-training procedures
- the relationship with the trainer.
