Economics of Circular Economy in Construction
In today’s world, the traditional system of take-make-dispose is becoming growingly unsustainable. A different approach is required which utilizes less of the earth’s resources. Circular economy is a process which consumes lesser of the natural resources and aims at utilizing the available products, materials etc. to be brought back into use after their intended life span. The construction industry is a large consumer of natural resources and a huge generator of waste. This comes at a cost. A lot of our decisions are based on how much does a product or service eventually cost. The objective of this PhD is to understand whether circular economy is a viable option from the financial perspective and also to understand what more can be done to make it financially accessible for everyone.
