Fabricating Sustainability

Conference brief
Dwindling resources and increasing costs are but two out of the many reasons given for why we cannot continue to act as we have historically acted. This is as relevant for education as it is for practice or strategic decision making across the broad spectrum of built environment disciplines and it seems inevitable that sustainable values will become the de-facto standard. Our understanding of sustainability however is fabricated by the ideological and moral parameters to which we subscribe. The real question, therefore, is not one of whether we subscribe to sustainability but to which version of sustainability and in what context.
The general theme of the 2005 ANZAScA conference will consider sustainability in whatever form it is manifested but in particular as it applies to:
- Human and natural environments
- Construction
- Digital
- Education
- Social, cultural and political issues
