Integrated Ocean Drilling Program
The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program is a high-profile international scientific collaboration supported by multiple countries.
IODP (Integrated Ocean Drilling Program) is the world’s premier marine research drilling programme which aims to explore the Earth's history and structure, recorded in seafloor sediments and rocks.
It is the successor of the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) and Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) and is therefore the latest phase in one of the longest running and most successful international programmes in the geosciences.
IODP employs two dedicated drilling vessels, the riserless Joides Resolution, and the riser-equipped Chikyu.
