Your first two weeks in your hall

Your first day in the hall is move-in day—find out everything you need to know about move-in day.

The first week in the hall is called Tau Mai Week. Tau Mai is designed to help give you a solid foundation to begin your first year of study and settle you into your new hall and home in Wellington City.

‘Tau’ can mean to land, alight, or settle. The word 'mai' indicates the direction towards the speaker—so together the name is an invitation to settle/land with us/here.

Find out more about what’s planned for Tau Mai Week below.

Your second week will be the University’s Orientation Week with all new students—this includes day events held by the University, and evening events held by Victoria University of Wellington Student Association—VUWSA.
