About Professor Robyn Longhurst
Professor Robyn Longhurst joined Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) in March 2024 after holding the same role at the University of Waikato. She is dedicated to building institutional capability in learning, teaching and curriculum development in ways that are responsive to the changing tertiary education environment.
Robyn has the Library, the Centre for Academic Development, and a range of academic functions in her portfolio. She is responsible for the academic quality framework and represents the University on the Committee of University Academic Programmes (CUAP), a national committee responsible for approving new academic programmes. Robyn has led two university academic quality audits and served as an auditor on three academic quality audit panels in New Zealand and Australia.
Throughout her career, Robyn has been deeply committed to teaching but also to research. Her research area is human geography focusing on the relationship between people and place with a particular emphasis on gender.
