Candidate statement

Course of study: Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and Criminology

I would like to be considered as a candidate for the VUW Council because I deeply appreciate the importance of the council and its position within the University. As a young single mother who juggles studying with working, volunteering within my community, and raising a daughter, I feel I can represent an area of students that can be easily overlooked and help ensure that they receive the support they need to dedicate themselves to their studies. Victoria University of Wellington is an incredible and diverse University and as a Student Ambassador and PASS leader I already feel deeply honoured to represent my University and if my candidacy for this position was accepted I would devote myself to this position and to representing young parents who don’t want to put their life and their studies on hold when they have a family – everyone deserves an opportunity to study!
